Honor Roll:
We are holding an awareness week March 25-29 to raise awareness around suicide, self-harm, depression, and anxiety. Below is a list of activities throughout the week.
Monday 3/25
Morning assembly: introduction to the awareness week and activities
Throughout the day: members of the Prevention Committee will be visiting various classes (always in the last 10 minutes of class) to distribute wristbands and reiterate statistics.
Tuesday 3/26
Our prevention committee students (that went to the suicide prevention conference) will be handing out buttons to grades 6-8, either during lunch or perhaps Foundations.
Wednesday 3/27
A video about the week’s topic. It will feature a student and a teacher who have agreed to share their personal experiences with struggle and getting help.
Our prevention committee students will join a Foundations to introduce the video and help with discussion afterward.
Thursday 3/28 and/or Friday 3/29
Prevention committee students may use this day to hand out another (different) button. They will also be helping read a book to the lower grades (a grade-appropriate book—don’t worry!) about getting help when things are hard.
Language Learning Lab throughout the Week
We had a rock company donate round, flat stones for students to write positive messages on. The younger grades will also be writing/drawing on rocks in their learning labs. These will all come together to form a “mental wellness rock garden” in the atrium of the school.
- Students who made Honor Roll during the 3rd quarter were recognized at the assembly this morning - our students work very hard and it's an honor to be recognized by their peers and teachers.
- Students participating in spring sports stood up and were recognized.
- CONGRATULATIONS to our Color Guard for representing ASU Prep in Las Vegas over the weekend at the Southwest Regional Competition.
